Challenge

Ansell is a global leader in protection solutions and sexual wellness. Their range of personal lubricant brands is known as Lifestyles (Australia, USA), Manix (France) and Unimil (Poland). Ansell wanted to distinguish its lubricant range from competitors, increase stand-out on-shelf in a way that did not compromise the sensual nature of the products or cause embarrassment to customers in-store. The new design should also arouse curiosity and convey a sense of trust. 

Solution

Fun and sensuality are the core creative ideas which drive our highly distinctive and engaging design. The iconic design reinforces the brand’s identity and marks a truly innovative development in the visual language of the product category. The upper ring is irresistible, encourages interaction and gives the product its distinctive playful character. Our patented delivery mechanism is highly ergonomic and a delight to use – gel flow is instant and can be easily controlled. A patent application has also been filed to protect the structural packaging.

 

The brand’s key benefits are communicated in an clear, uncluttered, graphic style featuring blushing tonal gradients to suggest both the rising sensation of pleasure and fragrance variant. The product coveys an image that is freewheeling and accessible which appeals to regular and new consumers alike. By shaking up the category, Ansell has been empowered with an ownable and distinctive brand identity.

Our design has received a total of four awards and has been featured in the esteemed Taschen book of Packaging Design. Welcome recognition for a project which demonstrates our in-studio ability to combine product design, graphic design, engineering, project management and transfer to manufacturing services into one seamless experience.
